Top 5 Beaches in Malta

After your training during your Maltese fitness holiday by the sea, you might also want to go enjoy the sun by the clear waters of the Mediterranean. The beaches in Malta are definitely the island’s most sought after attraction. You will not have to search far and the bathing season lasts between May and October. That time is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and doing water sports.

Whether you want to enjoy an afternoon at the beach right on your doorstep or go further out to enjoy a sandy secluded bay, Malta has it all! Take a look at our selection of the TOP 5 beaches in Malta and see our article: Public Transport in Malta.

1. Mellieha Bay (Ghadira Bay)

This sandy paradise is one of Malta’s most popular beaches. It is located, as the name suggests, in the picturesque town of Mellieha. The water here is exceptionally clear. It is also shallow and the gently sloping sandy bank makes it safe and easy to get in. Very family-friendly and great for kids to play and swim. Scenically beautiful, it does get busier during peak season. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, as well as picnic benches and places to buy food or drink on the beach.

2. Exiles

Right in Sliema, a couple of minutes’ walk from your Fitness & Yoga Holiday accommodation, you will find the Exiles beach. You can access it through steps and ramps located along the promenade.

The beach is mostly rocky, with a small sandy area near the Plaza Regency hotel. You can safely enjoy the Mediterranean waters thanks to bathing ladders located all around the sunbathing area. At Exiles beach you can also swim in the hollow former Roman baths along the shoreline which are sheltered from the sea. Our outdoor yoga by the beach classes also take place not far from here!
